Janet Carr-Campbell

Janet Carr-CampbellJanet is the daughter of George and Mary Carr, and she lived in Canastota along with her three brothers, Bill, Barry, and Bob Carr. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1980, and started two businesses: Jan Dar Productions and The Music Machine!

Janet married Wayne Campbell in 1989, and they have two children, Tyler age 25 and Carly, age 23.

Janet is the co-founder and the Artistic Director of The Music Machine for 36 years. The Music Machine, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization which offers summer workshops for youth, ages 6-18, in Musical Theatre and Dance. A graduate of Oberlin Conservatory of Music, she won the first prize in the Liberace Keyboard Entertainer Search in 1980. Janet is a staff accompanist at UAA, the sole accompanist for the Anchorage Concert Chorus and enjoys playing for many talented singers and instrumentalists in Alaska. She cues the surtitles for the Anchorage Opera, is the Organist and Children’s Music Director at First United Methodist Church and is active in Anchorage’s “Artists in Schools” program. Janet has recently begun to work with the Anchorage Concert Association; helping to select and train the local children who join the casts of touringCarr-Campbell Yearbook Broadway shows (most recently Billy Elliot and Beauty and the Beast.) In 2011 Janet was honored as a BP-YWCA Woman of Achievement. For 36 years, Janet has loved sharing her joy of music with the kids of Anchorage.
