Welcome to SchoolTool Parent Portal, Canastota CSD's student data management system. We are excited to be able to provide this secure online access to parents regarding your child's attendance, schedule, and grades*. If you have any questions regarding grades that your child can not answer, please contact your child's teacher.

*Currently, grades are only available for students in grades 7-12.

Q: How do I sign up
A: Parents and legal guardians must sign up for Parent Portal by downloading this form and handing it in to your student's building secretary.

Q: What information will parents see when they log in?
A:

  • First Name, Last Name & Home Address
  • Counselor Name
  • Current Grade
  • Teacher
  • Locker
  • Attendance Record
  • Discipline
  • Marking Period Average
  • Marking Period Grades
  • Progress Report Grades
  • Final Grades 
  • Schedules / Course Selections

Q: Do parents see siblings all in one place?
A: Yes!

Q: What is my username and password?
A: Once parents fill out the form to sign up, an email from Schooltool will be automatically generated and sent to the email listed in the form to get started and create login credentials.

Q: What if I forget my password
A: Parents can email Amanda Snyder, and she can send a password reset to the email on file.

Q: Can changes be made in Parent Portal?
A: No. Parent Portal is for viewing only.  No changes can be made.

Q: What if the Parent Portal shows an incorrect grade or attendance information?
A: Parents will want to contact their child's guidance counselor and/or teacher so that they can make any necessary corrections on their end.

Q: Do I need any special software to access Parent Portal?
A: No, you do not need any special software to access the portal.  You only need internet access.  Please note: Schooltool seems to work best on Chrome and updated browsers.

Q: Is there an App?
A: Yes, to get started using the schooltool mobile app, you only need to do three things:

Download and install the Schooltool mobile app. Available on both Android and iOS devices. 
Enter the following three pieces of information in the fields that appear when you run the app:

  • Domain /URL: Enter the URL (website) used to access Schooltool: Schooltool Parent Portal Login
  • Username: Enter the username (email) you provided on the form.  
  • Password:  Enter the password you created. 

Click on “Log in”
**Enabling Push Notifications: For Android, use the Settings area in the app to choose whether or not to receive notifications. For iOS users, this is managed in the Notification Center in your device’s Settings area.

Tip: You will want to use the “Stay logged in” option if you do not want to enter this information each time you access the app. 

  • Do not share your password with anyone.
  • Talk to a guidance counselor or teacher if someone other than your parents has your password. 
  • Always log out of a computer when you walk away from it.
  • Keep a passcode on your phone. 

Parent Portal App

The Canastota Central School District is proud to announce the availability of the SchoolTool mobile app for iOS and Android (4.0 and higher) devices.  With this app, parents can log in with this app to see information about current schedules, attendance, and grades. As a reminder, Parent Portal is for parents and legal guardians only. 

If you have any questions about the mobile app or need support, please contact  Amanda Snyder.  If you do not have an account and would like to get one, please fill out this form and return it to your child's building secretary.

To get started using the Schooltool mobile app, you only need to do three things:

  1. Download and install the Schooltool mobile app.

      2. Enter the following three pieces of information in the fields that appear when you run the app:

  • Domain /URL: Enter the URL (website) used to access Schooltool: Parent Portal Schooltool Login
  • Username: Enter your Schooltool username.  If you are a parent, this will be the email address used when you signed up for Parent Portal. If you are a teacher, this will be the same username you use to log n at school.
  • Password:  Enter the password you use to log into Schooltool.

3. Click on “Log in”
