We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Steve Button, a music teacher at CCSD, has been selected as the honoree for the Classic FM Music Educator Award for the month of March! Since September, WCNY Classic FM has been recognizing deserving music teachers in their area with a monthly award, and Mr. Button was nominated by one of his students! The student mentioned how much they will miss Mr. Button when he retires after this school year, among other things.
WCNY surprised Mr. Button at the school during one of his classes with an award plaque, which was recorded and will be played back on Classic FM. Additionally, in April, Mr. Button will have the opportunity to bring an ensemble of his choice to the studio for a performance that will be recorded and played on the radio.
After serving our students in Canastota for twenty-four years, Mr. Button will be retiring at the end of this school year. We will miss his expertise and support.
