Athletic Advisory Council (AAC)
Purpose
The Canastota Central School District Athletic Advisory Council (AAC) serves as a collaborative forum connecting the District’s athletic program, the Canastota All-Sports Boosters, and local youth sports organizations. The Council’s primary goal is to strengthen communication, coordination, and support systems to enhance athletic opportunities for all Canastota student-athletes.
Through shared leadership and open dialogue, the AAC works to:
- Promote a shared vision that supports student participation and success in athletics
- Ensure accurate and consistent communication between the District and community athletic organizations
- Encourage efficient use of facilities, equipment, and regional resources
- Provide a forum to address challenges, propose initiatives, and develop collaborative solutions
- Serve as a central resource for questions, coordination, and planning related to Canastota athletics
- Connect individuals and organizations committed to supporting and strengthening Canastota’s athletic programs
Membership & Representation
- Board of Education members
- Superintendent of Schools
- Athletic Director
- Varsity coaches or designated program representatives
Community representation may include:
- Canastota All-Sports Boosters officers
- AYSO representatives
- Pop Warner representatives
- Little League representatives
- Village Recreation representatives
- Other youth athletic organizations and community partners
Council Focus Areas
- The AAC provides guidance, discussion, and support on topics such as:
- Practice schedules and participation requirements
- Facilities usage and scheduling coordination
- Equipment planning and replacement timelines
- Fundraising coordination and initiatives
- District policies, procedures, and athletic program alignment
- Student-athlete wellness topics including injury prevention, nutrition, and goal setting
- Collaboration opportunities across school and youth athletic programs
Meeting Schedule
The Athletic Advisory Council meets quarterly, with meetings scheduled strategically between athletic seasons to maximize participation and effectiveness. Typical meeting months include:
- August
- November
- March
- June
Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
